Our country has a glorious history in the Shahabad district. The unique quality of its soil is reflected in the people here, who have always carried out their duties with honesty and dedication. During the British era, the poor people of this region were exploited under the label of “indentured laborers” by the British. Despite this, when these people went to other countries, they upheld the culture and traditions of their district and carried out their responsibilities, with some even becoming rulers of those nations. Mauritius stands as a testament to this. In 1857, when Babu Veer Kunwar Singh raised the banner of revolt against the British, it became a symbol of this land’s identity.

Ara used to be the headquarters of Shahabad district. However, today, Shahabad has been divided into four districts, with Bhojpur being the leading one. Unfortunately, holistic development in the field of education has not been achieved. The situation of the district headquarters, located along the banks of the Ganga and Sone rivers, has remained unchanged since British times. Koilwar block in the district has lagged in educational development. To address this issue, Shri Siddhnath Singh, Secretary of Dharikshan Social and Educational Welfare Society, established a B.Ed. college in 2015. Through his efforts, the college also received recognition for the D.El.Ed. course from N.C.T.E., Bhubaneswar. Not only that, but he also secured approval for 150 seats each for both B.Ed. and D.El.Ed. courses. Continuing the legacy of values instilled by his parents, the Secretary further established a degree college in 2019 to provide educational facilities to the region. This was essential because there was no degree college within a 15 km radius, forcing students to go outside the block for higher education.

Located on NH30, near Sakardi on the Ara-Patna road, opposite the high school in Kulhadiya, Dharikshan Meera Shanti Siddhnath Degree College was established. It is permanently affiliated with Veer Kunwar Singh University, Ara, and the state government. The college offers B.A., B.Sc., and B.Com courses. The university is permanently recognized by the state government. The college is equipped with a modern library, reading rooms for students, fully-equipped laboratories, clean drinking water, Wi-Fi facilities, and all the amenities related to student welfare. In the B.A. program, students can specialize in 20 subjects, all taught under the guidance of qualified and skilled professors.

Discipline is the most important aspect of the college. It is expected that students will pursue their education while maintaining discipline. Only through the disciplined development of the younger generation can a society and nation progress. The college upholds the noble ideals of “Education for Life” and “Life through Education” to ensure the overall development of the youth. The teachers of the college are fully committed to their duties because teachers are the true nation builders.
